Aries

Aries in love is intense and passionate — they pursue what they want with zero hesitation. The ram was sent by Zeus (or Hermes, in some versions) to save Phrixus and Helle from a sacrificial death. Phrixus survived; his grateful offerings to Zeus established the ram's immortality in the stars. The golden fleece — which Phrixus gifted to King Aeëtes of Colchis — became a symbol of royal authority and divine favor. Aries has been the first sign of the Western zodiac since at least the 8th century BCE, when Babylonian astronomers documented its position. The sign held particular significance in the ancient world because the vernal equinox — the astronomical starting point of spring — once fell within the constellation Aries. Although axial precession has since shifted the equinox into Pisces, the tropical zodiac (which BornClock uses) retains Aries as the first sign, permanently fixed to March 21.
