    About Saroj Khan

Saroj Khan, born Nirmala Nagpal, was a pioneering Indian dance choreographer who revolutionized Hindi cinema's visual landscape across a career spanning over four decades. Entering the film industry as a child artist in the late 1950s, she trained under veteran master B. Sohanlal before transitioning into an acclaimed independent choreographer. She rose to widespread prominence by crafting Sridevi’s unforgettable performance in "Hawa Hawai" for the classic film Mr. India. Khan subsequently cemented her superstar status by defining Madhuri Dixit’s signature style with iconic hits like "Ek Do Teen" from Tezaab and "Dola Re Dola" from Devdas. Over her prolific journey, she choreographed over two thousand songs and captured three National Film Awards, setting an enduring benchmark for artistic excellence. Revered as "Masterji," she broke gender barriers in a male-dominated industry and transformed choreographers into celebrated cinematic storytellers. Her expressive, rhythm-driven visual style remains the definitive gold standard of traditional Bollywood dance, perpetually inspiring performers across generations worldwide.
