    About Pritish Nandy

Pritish Nandy is a celebrated Indian poet, journalist, and media personality who revitalized modern Indian English poetry and redefined independent publishing. Born in 1951 in Bhagalpur, Bihar, he received his education in Kolkata, where he immersed himself early in literary and artistic circles. During the 1970s, Nandy published critically acclaimed poetry collections such as *L调* and *Striders in the Fog*, capturing the angst and urban ethos of post-independence India. As editor of *The Illustrated Weekly of India* in the 1980s, he transformed the heritage publication into a bold, hard-hitting investigative journal that confronted political corruption. Transitioning to cinema, he founded Pritish Nandy Communications, producing groundbreaking contemporary films including *Kaante* and *Pyaar Ke Side Effects*, which bridged commercial and independent storytelling. Additionally, he served the nation as a nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 1998 to 2004. Today, his enduring legacy lies in his fearless creative spirit, which continues to shape and inspire the landscape of Indian journalism, literature, and modern cinema.
