    About Albert Camus

Albert Camus was an internationally known French philosopher, author, and journalist born on November 7, 1913, in Mondovi, French Algeria. He gained renown for his literary and philosophical works exploring morality, the human condition, and absurdism. Raised by a working class family, Camus studied philosophy at the University of Algiers before beginning his writing career. During World War II, he joined the French Resistance and edited the underground newspaper Combat. Camus authored acclaimed literary works, including the novels The Stranger and The Plague, alongside influential philosophical essays such as The Myth of Sisyphus and The Rebel. Although frequently categorized as an existentialist, he rejected the label, framing his thought around the absurd conflict between humanity's search for meaning and an indifferent world. In 1957, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Albert Camus died in an automobile accident in France on January 4, 1960.
