Ace of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

The Ace of Wands is a spark: a new idea, project or burst of energy. Upright it says start — the drive is there. Reversed the spark is clouded, and plans may stall before they catch fire.

    Ace of Wands upright

A hand reaches out of a cloud gripping a sturdy, sprouting wand. Waite lists creation, invention, enterprise and the powers which result in these — the beginning of something. It is the moment an idea becomes a decision to act.

    Ace of Wands reversed

Waite reversed gives decline and ruin, and also a certain clouded joy. In calmer terms: enthusiasm without fuel. Check whether you have the time and resources before launching.

    A is one drawn upside-down.

    Ace of Wands in love

Fresh attraction or new passion in an existing bond. Act on the spark while it is bright.

    Ace of Wands in career

A new project, role or business idea. Good for pitching and starting.

    Ace of Wands in money

A new source of income may begin from your own initiative. Waite also lists inheritance.

Is Ace of Wands a yes or no?

Upright: Leans yes. Yes — a strong "begin" card.

Reversed: Reversed, Ace of Wands reads as a gentle no: delays, false start, low energy.

The yes/no lean is BornClock’s reading convention drawn from the card’s meaning — Waite himself did not assign one.
